TRR has experience working with individuals diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, Amputation, Spinal Cord Injuries, Visual Impairment and other disabling wounds. The process of fitting a boat and adapting instruction to each paddler is one of experimentation. The most important attribute is a willingness to try different options in a safe and supportive environment and have fun at it.
We start by learning the basics in a calm river or heated, indoor pool. From there, trips are planned to local creeks, streams and rivers. TRR adapts instruction, boats and gear to individual injuries and challenges with a goal of forming a supportive community that enjoys sharing a day of outdoor adventure on a river.
National and International Paddling Opportunities
The national organization of TRR also organizes trips to more progressively challenging venues in Colorado, Montana, Florida, U.S. Virgin Islands and Mexico. Many of these trip opportunities are available at no cost to paddlers. Leadership training is provided so that wounded warriors can take their growing adventure skills home to share with veterans in their community.
